I run a thriving private practice, working with adults, teenagers and children.

After gaining my BSc(Hons) in Psychology in 1991 and spent over 20 years supporting businesses and their employees through change. My interest in the individual, their personal circumstances and their reactions to change showed me that emotion rather than logic drives behaviour. This is the basis of the way that I work with clients – working with the emotions and the individual’s unmet needs.

In 2012 I decided to formalise my passion for supporting people to get the most out of their lives by qualifying as a psychotherapeutic counsellor. Since then I have continued to study alongside my clinical practice. I have been a volunteer counsellor at Blythe House Hospice in Chapel-en-le-Frith and Haveley Hey Primary School, through Place2Be and have run a thriving private practice since 2016.

Whilst my approach to counselling is primarily Person-Centered, my training has been integrative, so I am able to draw on Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Cognitive Behavioural approaches to suit each individual client. For clients who find it hard to express themselves through spoken language, I use creative and play therapy to enable expression and communication (Covid update: I am currently conducting all of my work over Zoom, so play therapy is not available).

My passion is Journeywork, which provides deep emotional and physical healing. I am a recommended accredited Journey Practioner, have been a coach on the global Journey Method Online programme and continue to study a variety of advanced programmes.

As an accredited member of the National Counselling Society, I am bound by their Code of Ethics including receiving clinical supervision on a monthly basis. I am covered by Professional Indemnity Insurance and have an Enhanced Criminal Record Certificate due to my work with children and vulnerable adults.
